Gary Vee's Early Life
Gary Vee was born on November 14, 1975, in what's modern-day Belarus. He has Ashkenazi Jewish roots.
His given name is Gennady Alexandrovich Vaynerchuck, or Hyenadz Alyaksandravich Vaynyarchuk. However, he's better known by his aliases Gary Vaynerchuck or Gary Vee.
Although he was born in the Soviet Union, Vee didn't stay there for long. In 1978, his family immigrated to New York City, then New Jersey not long after.
Vee's had an entrepreneurial mindset ever since he was a teen. He joined his family's retail wine business Shopper's Discount Liquors when he was only 14, and took over after graduating from university with a bachelor's degree in management science from Mount Ida College.
Gary Vee's Notable Achievements
After starting Wine Library TV in 2006, Vee created VaynerMedia in 2009 with his brother. This was the start of his career in digital marketing and social media, and he closed the Wine Library chapter of his life in 2011 to focus on VaynerMedia. Although he ended Wine Library TV, Vee replaced it with The Daily Grape.
To add to his wine repertoire, Vee started Wine & Web in 2010, which was hosted on Sirius XM.
On the influencer marketing side of things, he started The #AskGaryVee Show on YouTube in 2014. This show was dedicated to helping other entrepreneurs with things such as personal branding tips. Plus, he started DailyVee in 2015, which is a video-documentary series regarding investing strategies.
Eight years after the creation of VaynerMedia, Vee went on to form The Gallery (now Gallery Media Group) in 2017. In the same year, he went on the show Planet of the Apps.
